Same problem occurred and Windows Media Center would not find the eHome device. I got an exchange for a new unit from Amazon. After that got resolved the Azend IR blaster seemed to quit working. I had it all setup and then had a HDMI audio issue. It will be used much like a TIVO to record scheduled programming off my Comcast cable.

Start Windows Media Center - Tasks - Settings - TV - TV Signal. Go back to Programs and Features and uninstall Playready. Go to Control Panel - Programs and Features - Turn Windows Features On and Off. After trying numerous fixes from internet forums I finally found a simple one that works.

I have never had this happen with PCs I built and installed Windows 7 or 8 clean. This causes some kind of corruption with the Playready installation. The condition is probably the same with any factory built PC/laptop that is delivered with a factory built OS image.

I had this happen with Windows 7 and Windows 8 on new HP laptops I bought in the last year. Here is a tip for those experiencing problems with Windows Media Center setup when Playready will not complete an update. The Azend kits works great with Windows 7 and Windows 8. I could never get the Pinnacle to work with the Comcast DTA but the Azend works perfectly and I really like the remote. It has worked so much better than the Pinnacle even when that was new. I bought the Azend Media Kit to replace my Pinnacle kit that failed last year.
